Sustainable Futures

The key to a sustainable future involves finding a way to satisfy society's current lifestyle in a constructive and less wasteful way.
Designers play a key role in advancing current design practices and we are also responsible for making important material and production decisions for consumer products.
The role of the designer is as a Problem Solver.
Design = Making the Right Choices.
One way of doing this is to write a list of everything you want the product you are designing to achieve and then keep working until you can tick off each point. Sustainable design means doubling the number of points on the list. It is an interesting challenge that can potentially lead to new design qualities and solutions.

Sustainable Design Should Be:
  • CYCLIC
  • SOLAR
  • SAFE
  • EFFICIENT
  • SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE
